Lia Jessen

Head Trainer/Coach

Since starting Forever West Performance Horses in 2013, Lia has brought hundreds of riders and horses success. Starting her love for horses in a small pasture with her mom in small town Iowa, it was quickly discovered that horses were not just a phase, but a life long passion.
Lia training started under Olympian Betsy Coaster.  Learning basic dressage and show jumping. Interest changed after the family acquired a Tennessee Walking horse named Absolute Joy and Magics Joanne. With these 2 horses Lia would go on to fox hunt, do parades and trail ride with Absolute Joy but with Magics Joanne she would be the multiple end of the year high point youth for several years with the TWHBEA. Soon after she would start training with Tom Burton Stables continuing to show the Tennessee Walking Horse and starting colts for Tom.  After joining the Military and having her first 2 kids Lia got back in to horses. Moving to Wyoming and buying her first horse in a very long time.  Chase Me Baby "Chaser"  together with this amazing horse a new passion was born.  All Around Showing. Under the guidance of Brigette Benson (Christiansen) owner of Benson Performance Horses. Thanks to Brigette,  Lia was able to get a solid understanding of the AQHA/APHA show realm. After purchasing her first official show horse Snap E Commander "Sully" she was off and running. Winning class after class with both horses including all around tiles on both.  The crowing achievement would be the 2015 World Wide Paint Horse Congress were Lia and Sully beat the odds with a green trainer and an old horse and ended up with several Reserve Congress titles,  top 5 and top 10 placings as well as 2 Reserve All Around titles! "There will never be another Sully who passed away May 8, 2023 at the ripe Ole age of 25. He was the best teacher I ever had" ~Lia
Lia continues to learn and grow. Having worked with and attended clinics by these great horse people: Jarvis Anderson,  Cleve Wells, David McMillan,  Seekers of the Soft Feel, Buck and many others along the way. Lia believes you will never know all you'd like to know so why not learn all you can.

Bobbie Clack

Manager/Instuctor

Bobbie was introduced to horses at a very young age. Her father was a professional rodeo cowboy in the early 70s and rodeoed all around Texas, Arizona and California. After Bobbie was born, she was often around the horse life with her dad and her aunt who was a riding instructor. Bobbie loved trail riding through the orange groves of South Texas where she grew up. While spending weekends at her aunts house, Bobbie would often sneak out at night just to spend more time with the horses.
Though her love for horses never died, Bobbie didn’t have ready access to horses for many years until her daughter showed interest and that re-sparked her own passion. Bobbie joined Lia Jessen’s lesson program in Santa Fe and was taught different disciplines and quickly realized that she wanted to help pass on this knowledge to others. Lia recognized Bobbie’s passion and ability and coached her in horsemanship instruction.
Bobbie has since focused her passions on learning better horsemanship and passing on that knowledge to her own students. Bobbie’s students have gone on to win multiple all around buckles and prizes at several shows. Bobbie has also won all around awards at various local shows and also received the Dressage High Point at the State Fair in 2022.
Bobbie will continue to be a life long learner of horsemanship and share her passion and knowledge with her students.
